Our catastrophe plans include experienced claim professionals with extensive experience in Florida and with handling catastrophic losses.

When your home is damaged after a catastrophe, you may contact your agent or our Catastrophe Claim division directly at 1-800-488-8141. When reporting your loss, please have the following information available:

  • Policy number - if this is not available, we will need the name of the insured listed on the policy and the insured location
  • Date and time of loss
  • Facts of the loss
  • Type of damage to your home
  • Contact information: home, cell, business. If you have temporarily relocated, provide us the best number to reach you
  • Let us know if you have made or plan to make any temporary repairs. You will need to provide photos of the damage and invoices to the claim representative. Permanent repairs should not begin until we have had the opportunity to inspect the damages.

Catastrophe Preparedness

  • Review your insurance policies and all coverages.
  • Flood is not covered under your homeowner policy. Contact your agent to inquire about purchasing flood insurance.
  • Keep your policy information in a safe place.
  • Keep your policy information updated such as current address, contact numbers, value of your home, and mortgage company. Mortgage companies require to be listed as a payee on claim payments for the repairs to your home.

Establish a Family Disaster Plan

  • Know the impact of the wind, storm surge and flooding can have on your home.
  • Know the evacuation routes in your area.
  • Establish a place to meet or designate an out of state family member as the point of contact.
  • Discuss disaster plans with all family members
  • Establish a plan for your pets in case you have to evacuate
  • Keep a weather radio and extra batteries.
  • Have a First Aid kit.
